這是鐫刻在美國波士頓「猶太人屠殺紀念碑上」上的，德國新教牧師馬丁．尼莫拉Martin Niemöller (1892-1984) 的懺悔詩。尼莫拉曾是納粹的受害者，他在晚年為自己當年的道德污點寫下懺悔詩。

First they came for the socialists
and I did not speak out because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the trade unionists

Then they came for the Jews
