提摩太前書第六章（二）：逃避……追求……

（和合本）但你這屬神的人要逃避這些事，追求公義、敬虔、信心、愛心、忍耐、溫柔。
（OJB）But you, ish haElohim (man of G-d), flee（逃避） these things. Pursue（追趕，追蹤；緊跟著，糾纏；【軍事】追擊） tzedek, chasidus, emunah, ahavah, savlanut, and anavah.
（LCC）但是你呢﹑屬上帝的人哪﹐你要逃避這些事：你要追求正義﹑敬虔﹑忠信﹑仁愛﹑堅忍﹑柔和之情。
（NET）But you, as a person dedicated（專用、獻身） to God, keep away from all that. Instead（代替） pursue righteousness, godliness, faithfulness, love, endurance, and gentleness.

「這些事」指前文所說的傳異教者八大敗壞特質(v4-10)。本文也有六大追求特質：

• 公義：tzedek，righteousness。拉比解釋tzedek：「What is hateful to you, do not do to your neighbor.」
  公義的相反對照是「紛爭」（v4）。詩篇第一篇也可說出義人和惡人的分別。
• 敬虔：chasidus。strong number: 2152。
  From G2152; piety; specifically the gospel scheme: - godliness, holiness.
  敬虔的相反是「在心思敗壞失去真理的人中間不斷不和」（v4）
• 信心：emunah，堅固的信靠、堅持、穩住，像摩西舉手勝利一樣。其相反是「可厭的猜疑」（v4）
• 愛心：ahavah，盡力的愛，例如：雅各愛拉結。相反：邪惡的舌頭（不理會對方感受）。
• 忍耐：savlanut，patience, is a virtue that a Jew should cultivate in his or her daily life. Eg:When something bad happens to you and you did not have the power to avoid it, do not aggravate the situation even more through wasted grief.
  其相反是「一無所知（但又愛好辯論和言詞執拗）」
• 溫柔：anavah，翻譯為humility（謙恭，謙讓），其相反是「嫉妒、自高自大」（v4）。
